Laboratory understanding and benefits of Vita 3D-Master shaded ceramics
A practical interpretation of Vita VM materials together with Vita Easyshade for laboratory quality control use. by Mark Baker CDT
The successful laboratory interpreting of prescribed clinical shade information is the key to continued repeatable restorations and customer patient satisfaction. Techniques ranging from standardizing working environments, thorough to quality control will be will be described helping technicians and laboratories differentiate themselves in the competitive market place.
Mr. Mark A. Baker CDT completed his Dental Technicians Diploma in London, England, graduating with honors in 1977. He later moved to Germany gaining extensive tutoring in fixed and removable prosthetic concepts in two of Bavaria’s prestigious laboratories. In 1985, he immigrated to Sydney Australia, establishing his own successful dental laboratory specializing in aesthetic prosthodontic restorations, and single tooth implants. He has held active executive positions within the Australian Osseointegration Society, the Dental Ceramic Society, and Australian Dental Laboratories Association.
Mr. Baker lectures and conducts hands-on courses both nationally and internationally, focusing on clinical technical communications for successful case planning, and has authored several articles worldwide.

Color Is Light And Light Is Color! Shade Science And Color Communication
A Program for the Dentist, Technician, Hygienist and or Auxiliary by Dr. Mendelson DDS
Regardless of the material selected, the only area in dentistry that even an untrained eye can identify as questionable with a tooth is the shade. What are the three factors that will determine predictable success in shade selection and color communication? Understanding color, understanding what influences our perception of color and utilizing this knowledge for predictable step-by-step shade taking.
In this program we will explore these three subjects in depth. Unlike almost every other aspect of clinical and laboratory practice, many of us are using a non-evidence based approach to shade selection and color communication.
There is a better way. Ask yourself two questions: What evidence based tools are you using to select your shades? Are you communicating with your technician in a subjective or objective manner? Mastering and understanding this science is the key component to the predictable success of your direct and indirect restorations.
We will explore step-by-step shade taking using the evidence based Vita 3D-Master® Shadeguide and predictable electronic shade selection and verification using the Vita Easyshade®
Learning Objectives
- Identify the three areas for effective shade communication
- Identify what influences our perception of color
- Understand how to communicate with your technician in a quantifiable and objective manner.
- Understand how to take predictable shades with the Vita 3D-Master® Shadeguide
- Understand how to take predictable shades with the Vita Easyshade®

Avoid the Slaughter: Bifurcate Your Income and Pay Less In Taxes by Tab Burkhalter
The Government, all governments, operate and control society through the system of taxation. They tax transactions, tax goods, tax services, tax consumables, tax people, tax fictitious entities, and tax spending habits. They thrive on the amount of revenue generated and tell us that more is good. Keep in mind, however, their positive revenue is negative to each of us. Just like the hogs at slaughter, we get more bacon from the commitment of more hogs.
As every individual and entity is unique in its character, composition, income streams and options, a single tax strategy for avoiding the slaughter cannot be proposed and sold off the bookstore shelf. But every strategy has common themes, foundations, and guidelines which can be applied to assist in avoiding the slaughter.
This seminar is not designed or intended to evade paying taxes, but only to abate and avoid the taxes which are unnecessary. Through a brief analysis of the needs and concerns of the seminar attendees, we will focus and educate on the primary foundations of the tax systems and thereby begin planning beginning strategies. These beginning strategies will aim at each of us becoming chickens who are dedicated to paying taxes, but not sacrificing ourselves in the process.
Specifically, we will focus on the principles of entity selection, income bifurcation and characterization, tax avoidance through life style changes, and a basic primer on the method that the government leads us to the slaughter.
This seminar is open to all attendees who want to learn more about keeping your money in your pocket. Those that will benefit the most are lab owners and technicians who have an independent mind. This seminar is not designed for people looking for tax evasion strategies, as this is illegal.
